The Nigerian church has its root strongly built around spiritual parenting, where a younger minister assumes the position of a spiritual son to come under the authority of a spiritual father in his life and ministry.
One of the popular ministers in Nigeria, whose ministry is considered a fast-growing one, is Johnson Suleman. Suleman is the founder and senior pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, a ministry whose headquarter church is based in Auchi, Edo State.

Suleman is one of the spiritual sons of Enoch Adeboye – The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). Both ministers have firmly established a “father-son” relationship, so much so, that Adeboye invited Suleman to preach to the youth arm (Young Adults and Youth Affairs) of RCCG in 2017.

However, among the host of senior ministers scattered around Nigeria, why did Suleman choose Adeboye over everyone else? This is the question this article aims at answering as it reveals two (2) probable reasons why the former chose the latter to be his spiritual father.
1. Suleman was lead by God
It is not in the power of man to willingly make such choices as who to follow in ministry. If one is drawn to any man of God, then it must be God who is placing such thoughts in one’s mind.
According to this video, Suleman pointed out that his mentor, Benson Idahosa, had just died, and still in the state of mourning, he found himself in Adeboye’s Lekki ’98 meeting, where he supposedly encountered the latter’s ministry for the first time in a crusade.

That was a clear pointer that God wanted Suleman to meet with Adeboye so that God’s plan could be established in his life.
2. Suleman was impressed by Adeboye’s ministry
In the same video, Suleman pointed out that he was impressed by the miracles he experienced during the crusade, she had never seen anyone perform such kinds of miracles.

Therefore, being a young man who longed for the miraculous in his life and ministry, it was no longer difficult for Suleman to find the one whom he would follow. This, I believe, is another reason why Suleman chose Adeboye as his spiritual father.
