2 Reasons why Adeboye And Kumuyi do not preach in each other’s Churches

Two ministers of God can be close friends and yet, have never preached in each other’s churches. This brings one to the understanding that, there is a line that separates purpose from friendship. Therefore, a pastor can be best of friends with another and yet not invite that one to preach in his ministry, because their purposes and messages may not align.

On many occasions, the Nigerian church has often wondered why two of its most respected pastors do not invite each other to minister at their church programs. I’m talking about Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye – the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and Pastor William F. Kumuyi – the General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church (DLBC).

Kumuyi and Adeboye have a long history of friendship that dates back to the ’80s. Some people have even claimed that they both had the same spiritual father at some point, in the person of Pa Josiah Akindayomi – the founder of RCCG. God calls people individually and gives them a unique message alongside. Therefore, possibilities abound that the message God commits to one minister may not be fully agreed upon by another minister, even though they are good friends.

Therefore, in such a scenario, for the safety of the congregants and propagation of God’s kingdom, the best thing is for both ministers to maintain their friendship and respect their beliefs, but not invite each other for their church meetings.

2. Ministry is serious business and not a ground for friendly pleasantries

Ministers who are fully committed to their calls do not always have time for mundane things. In other words, ministry and friendship are two parallel lines, that are quite important. So while both lines are properly attended to, they do not have to meet at any point.

Therefore, just because two ministers are friends, does not mean they have to preach at each other’s churches. Adeboye and Kumuyi clearly understand this, that’s why they have maintained a good and healthy friendship over the years and yet do not equate that to mean, they must minister at each other’s churches.
