Some ministries start well but do not last, others do not start at all, whereas there are a select few that start (many times in a small way) but eventually amount to greatness with the eventuality of time. Those are the ministries that are usually celebrated by the masses.
This is the exact description of David Christian Center (DCC) – a church whose Senior Pastor is Kingsley Okonkwo. Okonkwo, who started DCC as a Youth Fellowship 25 years ago on September 1, 1996, has eventually grown to become one of the established young ministers in Nigeria.

Okonkwo made an Instagram post of his throwback picture in 1996, when the ministry had just begun, what it reveals was that there was no glamour during the early stages of the ministry.

However, fast forward to 2021, DCC has not only become a ‘go-to place for many youths, but Okonkwo has also become one of the authorities when it comes to Relationships, Dating, and Family Life (RDF), as his sermons are majorly built around that area of ministry.

Therefore, it was for his reason that this article was written, to reveal two (2) things Okonkwo did to remain relevant even after 25 years in ministry.
1. Okonkwo stuck with one message
Okonkwo surely does preach on other topics in the Christian faith, but he is mostly known to preach sermons that pertain to RDF.
This vertically has carved a niche for Okonkwo, as he has become a recognized authority in the Nigerian church, and the minister you call upon when you want to talk about marriage and dating in any conference.
According to Bella Naija, popular blogger, Toke Makinwa, had Okonkwo on her show, where both of them discussed issues about marriage. This reveals that Okonkwo’s ministry is not only recognized in the church alone.

2. Okonkwo built ministry relationships
One of the things that causes a minister and his ministry to expand is an association with other ministers. This is one thing Okonkwo has also done over the years.
Okonkwo has built ministerial relationships with popular ministers such as Wale Oke – whom he has invited to preach in DCC, Joshua Selman – who recently invited Okonkwo over to his ministry at Abuja, and many other top Nigerian ministers.
