Deeper Christian Life Ministries (DCLM), popularly known as Deeper Life Bible Church is one of the biggest church in Nigeria and also in the world. The church has grown to establish branches in many parts of the world.
Established in 1973 at University of Lagos State by the then, a Mathematics lecturer, Pastor (Dr.) William Folorunso Kumuyi, the church was established with different doctrines which made it impossible for members of Deeper Life Bible Church to engage in certain things. Also, as alleged, the founder and General Superintendent, Pastor Kumuyi was said to have discouraged his members from watching or owning a television set describing it as “a devil’s box”, however, things have changed now as the church is seen becoming more flexible in their doctrines.
According to Pulse News,Pastor W. F. Kumuyi was quoted to have said he will uproot some doctrines which are not taking the church deeper. According to the website, the General Superintendent of the church said; “Before I leave, I mean before I go, I’m going to remove everything that I set up, that I thought would help Deeper Life and make us holy, and make us sanctified, make us deep, make us deeper. And if I see it is not making us deeper and shallow, before I leave I will uproot all of them and will send to you a pure church before I leave.”
It seem Pastor Kumuyi is living out his decisions as some changes have been seen in the church activities in recent weeks. Out of many, below are two notable changes that have been witnessed in the church in recent times:
1. Effective use of the social media to publicize his church activities:
Deeper Life Bible Church have improved in their usage of Social Media platforms in recent months. The change on their social media pages is now visible as they now use the tech giant platforms to promote activities of the Church.
A quick investigation showed that Deeper Life Bible Church this year, introduced a programme called, Social Media Ambassadors Team (SMAT). The SMAT members are responsible for promoting the Church and the General Superintendent of the Church on social media platforms.
This has given rise in the Church visibility online.
2. Invitation of other gospel music artistes to his crusade:
Another notable thing is the invitation of other gospel music artistes to church crusades. This wasn’t the order of the day in previous years, but in the past two months, the Church have invited different gospel music artistes to perform during their programmes.
You would recall that American gospel music artiste, Don Moen was a guest music artiste during the church crusade in Enugu State and the most recent, Nathaniel Bassey was invited to minister during the just concluded “Divine Solution for All” global crusade in Abuja.
The positive effect of these invitations is that more people attended these programmes to watch these artistes perform at the crusade.
