Patience Ozokwor is one of Nollywood’s living legends. From Nigeria to Ghana and even further overseas, she is known for roles as a no-nonsense or cruel mother-in-law, which she plays flawlessly.
Many people have had the wrong impression of her because of the roles she had played, so when news broke that she had become an evangelist in 2016, mouths were wide open.
As usual, her story of becoming an evangelist made news in 2016 as many were curious about her courageous decision. In the hunt for constant news updates concerning Patience Ozokwor, rumors began to fly and were wrongly pushed as fact by untrustworthy bloggers and individuals who simply like spreading lies.
Unfortunately, these rumors about Patience Ozokwor after she devoted her life to Christ continue to circulate to this day. Today, Johnniepen would want to clarify a few lingering rumors regarding our Nollywood legend that are simply false.
1. She Warned People To Stop Calling Her Mama G
According to rumor, after becoming an evangelist, Patience Ozokwor issued a severe warning to people to stop referring to her as Mama G, as that was her name when she was in the world, but this is not true. Patience Ozokwor, in response to the rumors, said:
“It is not true that I said I do not want to be referred to as Mama G. I did not say so. It is the people that want to sell their papers that told that lie. “
Patience Ozokwor went on to clarify the meaning of Mama G, stating that it is not a bad name. She said:
“The meaning of Mama means mother and the G stands for General. I am everybody’s mother. Even the scripture says that I am a mother to everybody, even the motherless children“
Patience Ozokwor might now be an evangelist but she never warned people to stop calling her Mama G or neither did she say God told her to stop answering her nickname. She currently has the nickname on her Instagram bio.
2. God Told Her To Stop Acting
Another lie spread about Patience Ozokwor after she became an evangelist is that God told her to abandon Nollywood. In response to the rumors, Patience Ozokwor stated in an interview that God never revealed to her that she should stop acting.
“God did not say I should retire from my work; after all, we act dramas in church. He did not tell me to stop“
If you are one of those who thought Patience Ozokwor left Nollywood to focus on evangelism, you are mistaken. Patience Ozokwor has never left the Nigerian film industry. She is still working in Nollywood and was recently featured in Jim Iyke’s blockbuster movie “Bad Comments.”
So there you have it, Patience Ozokwor still answers her nickname, “Mama G,” with pride and has no plans to quit Nollywood anytime soon as she goes about winning souls for God’s Kingdom.
