Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church Worldwide has recently made a move against the use of earphones, AirPods and other related accessories in the church as he tagged it the devil’s tool for distraction.
According to Sahara Reporters, Bishop Oyedepo made the statement while addressing his members during Sunday’s Service at the Church’s headquarters in Ota, Ogun State.
He said; “all these things you plug in your ear will block your way forward. It is designed by the devil to block your way forward.”
If you notice in today’s churches, youths are fond of putting on earphones and pressing phones while the church service is going on. This act is very bad, and it weakens the spiritual life of that youth.
Considering this, Bishop Oyedepo decided to ban the use of earphones in church, which I believe it’s a good move to waken the spiritual life of the youths.

Below are some reasons why I believe Bishop Oyedepo’s action will make youths become spiritually active.
1. Youths will be able to easily hear the sermon in church, and they can begin to wonder the teachings of God’s word.
As a young person, it’s good to ask questions and know why certain things are happening or took place. Earphones and phones are distractions in the church. With this ban, youths will waken up in faith and begin to wonder the creations of God, thereby getting closer to his words.
2. Youths will be able to be committed to God during the church’s prayer sessions and this would waken their spiritual life.
If you have noticed, some youths don’t pray while the congregations are praying. They pretend to be in the prayer sessions, but deep down they are not. It’s either they get distracted by the earphones or their mobile phones. With this ban, the youths would wake up spiritually and talk to God in the spirit.
3. Lastly, it would create a bridge for God to communicate with the youths.
A little noise can distract and cause you not to hear the word of God or his calling. This is why some youths are not growing in faith. They easily fall victim to distractions and believe God is not paving the way for them.

There are many other places to make use of your phone and earpiece, but the church shouldn’t be one of them. This new improvement by the Living Faith Church should be adopted in other ministries.
