Knowing who is speaking to us in the depths of our souls is one of the most important abilities to have in the spiritual life, yet it is one of the most difficult to master. We run the risk of listening to a voice that leads us away from God.

2) When you search and listen for God, He is more likely to communicate to you. Satan intrudes into our thoughts without our permission.

In Jeremiah 29:12-13, it states that “Then you will come to me and I will listen to what you have to say. Whenever you put your heart and soul into seeking me, you will eventually find yourself in my presence.

3) It has a negative impact on your prayer life.

As Christians, we are expected to pray on a daily basis. We are called to pray without ceasing in the name of the Lord. According to Philippians 4:6, “Do not be worried about anything, but instead, in everything, submit your request to God via prayer and supplication, together with thanksgiving.

4. ask yourself, “Does this thought line up with Scripture?”

If the voice you are hearing does not agree with the words of Scripture, it is almost certain that it is not the voice of God. He will never tell you something or ask you to do something that is in direct conflict with his divine commandment or word.
