5 Possible Reasons Why Dr. D.K Olukoya should continue online service until end of covid-19

As we all know that the Mountain of fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) world wide has refused to reopen their churches for worship despite Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s directives. For the governor on August 7, announced that churches may reopen for services. This announcement was followed by strict do’s and don’t guidelines by the governor which includes compulsory church registration, temperature check, washing of hands and physical distancing. The governor has also reduced service schedule to one service in a week and instructed all churches to carry a capacity that is equal to half of their capacity (50% of members).

Some churches went on to reopen worship centers observing these full guidelines while some have refused to reopen their worship centers. Among the pastors that has not reopen worship center to conduct service for half members is the general overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr Daniel Kolawole Olukoya. As the man of God has continued to hold his services with the Lagos Television (LV) every Sunday morning.

The reasons behind his objection to the reopening of his worship center is never made public for people to know. But as a member of the church, I suggest the 5 possible reasons behind this in the following paragraphs.

1- Massive turnouts of his members in a single service. MFM is believed to have turnout of members of not less than 3000 members and this will surely breed the Nigerian Center For Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines. With this kind of situation, if the church is reopen with restriction to a limited number of 50%, members that will turnout will surely exceed it. You can’t start sending anyone home as this approach may further worsen the situation. By worsen the situation, I mean it will lead to argument of which members got their first. This is a practice in all MFM branches and regions because the members are taught punctuality. Now you have seen that all these can result to disobedience to government directives and as law abiding Man of God, he must have taught about the safety of his members.

If you observe now, you see that churches that has reopened worship centers are those with about 5 to 7 branches in a street or they’re those whose members don’t really turnout for services that much. In MFM, church establishment do not work that way and members always turn out especially for once in week services eg Wednesdays Manner Water and Power Must Change Hands(every first Saturday in a month) services.

2- Aggressive prayers MFM is popularly know for its aggressive deliverance prayers. MFM is a church where faith is put to practice by physical demonstration. Take this our popular prayers for example try to pray them yourself 1- Every agenda of witchcraft for me and my family, die in Jesus name. 2- Owners of evil load in my life, carry your load and die, in the name of Jesus 3- I fire back, all evil arrows targeted against me in the name of Jesus. Now, that was just three out 100 of such. While praying them, you must have noticed yourself demonstrating these prayers. That’s how MFM always pray them and sometimes we sweat praying them. Sometimes, we move from position to position according to the prayers called.

After analysis you should have noticed that it will be suffocating to wear facemask while praying those prayers. It is suicidal to attempt which means the church would breed covid-19 guidelines for wearing facemasks, proper ventilation and physical distancing during services.

3- Powerful prayer sessions in case you’re new to MFM we divide our services into sessions with each session assigned to a different minister. Now each session is expected to last at least nothing less than 15 minutes before the commencement of the next session.

If you recall, among the guidelines for reopening churches there is one that says churches are to hold services for an hour long which means that for MFM to observe full guidelines we would scrap prayer sessions in all services.

Secondly, we have something we call Testimony time which must come first immediately after opening prayers. For Testimony time it takes up about 15 to 30 minutes to complete this session. We are always advised to testify whatever the Lord did for us no matter how much or little that Testimony is, you must testify it. We are the Mountain of fire and Miracles Ministries, we believe in miracles working God. Why we give rooms for testifying is to encourage other believers to keep having faith in God. For example a couple could be believing God for the fruit of the womb for 4 years, they may be wanting to give up their faith because the miracle is prolonged. Now someone else is giving a testimony of 7 years of believing God for the fruit of the womb. The formal would see reasons to keep believing in God. That’s why we give rooms for Testimony in all our services and we’re not changing it soon.

4- We have scheduled services and programmes by this I mean to say that in MFM, first Sundays of every month has been booked for Thanks Giving Service. Sometimes it could be dedicated to anointing service and sometimes this could also be dedicated to prayers for every first-born. In which all the first-born are expected to go closer to the alter and receive prayers to remain the head.

While some first Sundays of the month is used to pray for celebrants- people who are born in that month. They’re prayed for and blessed of their new age. In all this there is a prolonged services most especially when child dedication is involved. If MFM church should reopen now in the midst of covid-19, we can not combine all these services for an hour service. So for this reason, they church should better continue online services for now.

5- We rejoice while giving tithes and offerings to the Lord. Just as we did while sharing testimonies, we sing and dance to our God before dropping the offering inside the casket (offering box). This is in accordance with the popular Bible quotation”give and it shall given unto you, good measures, pressed down and running over”. If you can also recall the story of Cain and Abel: Cain gave grungily and his burnt offerings were rejected by God. Unlike Abel his brother who gave his burnt offerings wholeheartedly and it was accepted unto The Lord. So, we would continue to offer our tithes and offerings wholeheartedly by singing and dancing to the Lord.

Another scenario is in the new Testament when Hananias and Saphira(couple) sold a portion of their land and gave part of it to God and decided to hide some parts. Which resulted to sudden death of the couple. In all this, we can see clearly that God does not accept offerings that are not coming from the heart. And against this the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) world wide will continually offer its tithes and offerings rejoicing and singing praises to our God.

As members of the MFM family which continues to allow more souls to join, bear with us and continue to listen to messages every Sundays via the Lagos television (LV) till this pandemic is reduced to controllable number of infected persons. As reopening our churches may endanger our health and even exposure to the deadly coronavirus. God who have been healing those infected already will takeaway this pandemic from our World.
