It is very important that you understand some basics about marriage before you go into it. It is needful that you attend seminars listen to messages and get instructions about marriage very early in your life. However, Pastor Funke Adejumo spoke to singles in the church about 8 Categories of people they should marry. They are:
1. Marry a person that you know and you like very well. Even if he is spiritual, don’t marry him if you don’t know or like him. She said that if Love is blind, marriage is an eye opener. So close one eye in prayers and open the other in looking.
2. Marry someone you can associate with at all levels and not be ashamed. According to her, marriage is the highest level of friendship on earth.Gen. 2:25
3. Marry someone that knows your fault and accepts you just as you are. Prov. 17:17. She said that a true friend is someone that knows where you stink and yet he’s faithful.
4. Marry someone that will tell you the truth you don’t even want to hear. Everyone may clap for you but there should be someone who should be able to confront you and pull you aside and correct you.
5. Marry someone with whom you can be transparent, honest and vulnerable.
6. Marry someone committed to helping you realize God’s purpose for your life.
7. Marry someone that there when he has reasons not to be there. When being there is sacrificially costly.
8. Marry someone that stands for you and by you in everything. While you are in courtship, if he prefers his mother to you, there is danger
