83-Year-Old Nun Recovered After Being Kidnapped

After being abducted at gunpoint in Burkina Faso earlier this year, an 83-year-old Louisiana nun has been located safe and sound.

Louisiana Republican Senator Bill Cassidy took to Facebook on Wednesday to share the “great news” that “Sister Suellen has been liberated.” It’s the answer to our prayers. relieved that she is safe.

On April 4, Sister Suellen Tennyson, a member of the Marianites of Holy Cross, was kidnapped by armed extremists in Burkina Faso. Tennyson was reportedly abducted from a nearby church during the night, along with her spectacles, shoes, and blood pressure medicine.

An online newsletter claimed that “around 10 guys” visited the convent while the nuns were asleep. Nearly everything was ruined in the house, and the new truck was riddled with bullet holes and set on fire in an unsuccessful attempt. Nearly five months later, on Monday, the archdiocese’s newspaper, the Clarion Herald, reported that Tennyson had been “recovered.” Sister Ann Lacour is the U.S. congregational head of the Marianites of Holy Cross. And Lacour mentioned that she had a chat with the missionary.
