At the R.C.C.G Crossover Service, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, addressed his congregation. He lectured on the benefits of thanking God, and to help them understand how to do so, he told them the story of a man who was warned by a Prophet that he would not survive past a certain year. He inquired of the Prophet as to whether or not there was anything he could do to alter the prophecy. The Prophet remained silent. “Could you kindly petition God to allow me to witness December 31st,” he said to the Prophet. The Prophet claimed there was no problem, but God only stated that he would die that year.
On December 31st, he awoke very early in the morning and dashed to the Ebute Metta Church. He walked instead of taking the bus. He would dodge when he saw someone since he didn’t want to be killed. “Finally, the death that will come and murder me in the house of God, I will wait and watch,” he stated as he arrived at the Church. He made it out alive. The man of God then disclosed that they are safe from death because they are in the presence of the Most High God. “Why don’t you raise your voice and thank God right now?” he said.
