ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – A Michigan pastor is set to ordain all six of his daughters at once.
Apostle Keith Barr, whose ministry has taken him across the United States and abroad, will do the honors during a special ceremony at the Quality Inn, 2537 Rochester Court, in Troy, at 7 p.m. on Feb. 9.
All six of his daughters, Gina, Katrina, Christina, Sabrina, Angelina, and Tina, were born in Pontiac and have ministered with their father since the early 90s. This is believed to be the first time that six sisters will be ordained at one time, in one service by their father.
“I love that I’m able to do this with my sisters,” Christina said. “We all encourage and inspire each other, and it’s my prayer that we can do the same for other women and men.”
Ministry truly is the family business. In 2004, his four eldest daughters traveled with their father to the Philippines. The Barr family has also ministered in Nigeria, Kenya, Mexico, Guatemala, Canada, and across the U.S.
The four oldest daughters are known for their singing, while the three youngest have formed a gospel rap group, “BLT,” a play off on their initials (Bina, Lina, Tina). Some of the daughters began preaching as young as 9. Others have been leaders in youth groups at school, led revivals, and braved the mission field multiple times.
The Barr family, which includes wife and mother Isabelle, will be joined at the ceremony by friends, family, national and local political leaders and ministers from across the country.
“Though they’re all sisters, they all minister uniquely, with perspectives that speak to a wide range of people,” Apostle Barr said. “Their mother and I have encouraged them to think for themselves, challenge each other, and challenge the norm. I’m proud they’ve done that in the best possible ways.”
Barr’s only son, Keith Gino Barr Jr., is already ordained and has a congregation in Rochester Hills.
