Abraham Should Not Be Your Role Model With Regards To Tithing – Pastor Abel Damina Reveals why

A Televangelist and General Overseer of Power City International, Dr. Abel Damina said if you must pay tithe, you should do it generously, it must not be ten percent of your earnings like what the Biblical Abraham did because the Bible never pointed us to Abraham as our role model.

The Cleric stated that although he does not teach Christians to pay tithe, at the same time he does not stop anyone from giving tithe if the person wishes to do so. “Tithe means ten percent, if that is how far your generosity can prompt you to go for God, I cannot stop you, but it means you are stingy. If out of one hundred percent, all you can give to God is ten percent, then you are not generous enough”.

Speaking further, the Cleric said if the old testament people, that were under the oath of the blood of animals were faithfully giving their ten percent, someone in the new testament which is under the finished work of Christ should give more than ten percent, because to whom much is given, much is expected. “You cannot box Christians within the confines of ten percent when the love of God is shed abroad in their hearts by the Holy Spirit as recorded in Romans 5:5. In Acts 2:45, Christians sold their assets and brought everything to the brethren, it was not tithe. The new testament church did not practice the tithing of the old testament”.

Dr. Damina equally said that the revelation of the new testament should bring out of you an expression of extravagant love for God, the same way you receive from God should be the same way you give out. “When you are born again, you are in a relationship with God, and not in a business transaction of which you do not receive until you give. Your disposition should be that God has given you all and you can never reciprocate than to keep doing your best in response to what God has already done for you”, the Cleric said.
