The Senior Pastor of Eternity Network International, Apostle Joshua Selman while preaching in a video on YouTube some hours ago admonishes members of his congregation to always wake up in the early hours of each day and pray because at that time there is a minimal encumbrance, the spirit of man can connect to God and worship God without thinking of the cares of life, and that draws the presence of God to the life of the believer.
According to the Cleric from the video, “There is something about seeking God early in the morning. In Galatians 5:16, Paul admonished the Galatian brethren to walk in the spirit so that they do not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lust against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh.
These two forces are constantly fighting each other and your choices are never free from their conflict. “This means the spirit and the flesh operate on two different laws. In Romans 7, Paul communicated a lamentation in his spirit. He said in his spirit he serves the Lord but in his body, he sees another law working in his members.
So that the things that he desires to do he did not find himself doing, but the things that he did not want to do he found out that something is compelling him to do them. He was communicating a frustration because he found out that just like Cain and Abel came out from the same womb, they exhibited two characteristics with different laws at work”.
The Cleric explained that as you rise in the morning, as your day begins, they are several things that can wrestle the fervency of your spirit – bad news, people looking for your trouble, decisions you have to take, difficult people, etc.
The Bible says these things have a way of watering down your spirit and by noon some people are already discouraged, this is why the Psalmist was showing us the key by saying ‘Early will I seek thee’.
There is a mystery behind seeking God in the morning because at that time many things that can challenge your spirit are silenced. At that time your spirit can connect to God, there is a minimal encumbrance, and there are no weights that your spirit has to fight with.
Speaking further, the Cleric said when you wake up in the morning you are refreshed, and encouraged, and God blesses you with the gift of a new day to be able to remedy the mistake of the previous day.
At that point you have not heard any voice of the flesh, that is the point when the Holy Spirit can speak to you and you rise with faith and know that you can face your day.
The Cleric equally referred to Proverbs 8:17. This Bible verse says those who seek God early shall find Him. “That means God is not available all the time.
Although the presence of God is there all the time, there is a protocol to the glory, it does not just come anytime you want. There are times and moments when the portals of heaven will open unusually, and even unbelievers understand this mystery, they call it the womb of the morning. That is the time you receive great strength and power, that is the time you do business with the spirit. Early in the morning, God begins to communicate to you his counsel for the day”, Apostle Selman said.
