God loves you; He’s with you. CeCe Winans consoles the mourners at a service in Virginia.

At the memorial ceremony held on Saturday for the University of Virginia football players who were killed by gunfire, Grammy-winning gospel singer CeCe Winans provided solace to the grieving with a song and a brief message.

The football players Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr., and D’Sean Perry, who were killed in a shooting six days before, were remembered during the funeral.

Winans, a 15-time Grammy winner, performed the Bethel Music song “Goodness of God,” which she put on her album “Believe for It” in 2021.

“I just want to … give my condolences to all the families,” Winans said before singing. “We know we serve a God who’s able to take us through, and He’s gonna take you through one day at a time.

I pray that all of us would understand the beauty of life and that we would make the decision to accept Jesus as our Savior. So that whenever the time comes for us to leave here, young or old, that we’re ready. Remember that God loves you, He’s with you, and that He is good.”

Winans embraced the Virginia community, according to the memorial’s host, WINA’s Jay James.

“The people of Charlottesville and the entire country have shown the University of Virginia a ton of support.” One exceptional person noticed after this catastrophe and wanted to attend today’s services: “About Winans,” James stated.

When Tony Elliott, the Virginia coach, spoke at the service, he referred to his faith.

“To everyone here, I say, we will turn today’s tragedy into tomorrow’s triumph,” he said, according to ESPN. “We have a mission going forward, and that mission requires a tremendous amount of responsibility. Amidst the pain and suffering, there is hope. The night will be spent in tears, but the morning will bring immense delight. Because of the stars 1, 15, and 41, we have a duty to rebuild this community, carry on their programs, and do it in a way that illuminates the rest of the globe.

Elliott stated, “I’m really looking forward to the strength, motivation, courage, and love that you all will bring as we conquer in the days ahead.” Lavel, Devin, D’Sean, I’m so looking forward to it. May you have a happy celebration in heaven, my little kings, and we will have a happy celebration here every day.
