“Before a Christian enters politics, he must have a strong passion for God” – Bishop David Oyedepo Reveals Why It Will Be Hard For A Christian To Change Nigeria

Nigeria is a country with a lot of divides, and religion is one of the major things that divides us. Some people still believe that they should not be ruled by people of a different faith from them, and if they are, there is an agenda against them.

Christians are described as the light of the world, and the salt of the earth by Jesus. It means that things should go smoothly when they are given the opportunity to be in charge. But with the number of professing Christians at various levels in our country, Nigeria is still in a mess.

Bishop David Oyedepo has explained why this is so. He said that things are going wrong in Nigeria, even with the Christians in politics, because the light those Christians are supposed to shine has been extinguished. He made this statement during the Covenant Hour of Prayer meeting today, as he made his final statements.

He explained that the effect of very dim light in very thick darkness will be null and void, so you cannot expect two Christians, who are not even shinning brightly, to have any effect on the country, in the midst of big evil.

“The rechargeable lamp of their salvation has quenched,” the Bishop said. “How will you expect two of those kind of Christians to have any effect in the midst of 300 demons?”

He continued by saying that before a Christian enters politics, he must have a strong passion for God to resist any kind of evil, or else he will join them.

Jesus said in Matthew 5, that if salt has lost its saltiness, it becomes good for nothing, and people throw it away and trample on it. Maybe that’s what happened to the Christians we have holding various political offices in Nigeria. If you check the Bible, whenever godly men were in power, there was massive prosperity in the land. For example, Joseph, Daniel and David, just to name a few. We need to pray to God to restore the godly men we have in power, so our nation can move forward. Be blessed.
