Marriage flow and grow in stages. It is not a one-way traffic thing. Sometimes it could go up and other times it would look like it is spiraling downwards. It takes a wise couple to know what stage their marriage is and come together as one to tackle whatever issues that might be confronting them.

It has been reported on several occasions by marriage experts that the early years of marriage might be filled with disappointment as the new couple is trying to adjust to the lifestyle of each other. Conflicts and communication need to be handled maturely at this early stage, just like Damilola Praiseworth did.

According to Damilola who is a pastor, he narrated his early marital struggles through his Twitter handle @Depaiz. He said before he got married to his wife his mind was filled with anxious questions on how he is going to handle marital issues like faithfulness, love, and post-childbirth blues.

Weeks into his young marriage he started seeing his fears materializing into reality. This made him queried whether is this how he is going to live the remaining part of his life. He had to take the intentional decision to open up to his wife on his fears about their marital life, only to find out that his wife abhors the same fear too.

With prayers, the young couple decided to take each day of their marriage as it comes.

I think the experience of Damilola is what a lot of couples undergo these days. It is unfortunate these days when marital issues like this crop up, instead of communicating with each other on how to resolve the matter, the couple would prefer to attack each other. Which is very wrong.

For a marriage to work, husband and wife need to sit down and iron out their differences amicably.
