Beware Of A Lifestyle Of Hurry, Be Patient – Bishop Oyedepo Warns Nigerian Youth

Dr. David Oyedepo, the Chancellor of Landmark University, spoke at their 8th Convocation Ceremony. As he concluded his sermon, he sounded a note of warning to the upcoming generation. “Beware of a lifestyle of a hurry,” he said. Most people practically among the youth suffer diverse horrors now than any other time in history. It’s common knowledge that most victims of road accidents are men and women in a hurry. Insensitive to the road signs, they engage in over speeding and ended their lives before they knew.

According to him, some youths have joined armed robbery gangs, because they can’t wait. The process of growth is too slow for them. They don’t believe in the dignity of labour, leading to many losing their lives. A number of youths today engage in computer scams and many are grieving in prison houses while others continue to suffer irreversible curses from their victims.

He said that some other youths are into the hard drugs business. A number of these may have been shot dead in the course of their businesses. Many may be lamenting in various prison houses around the world today. The word, ‘Patience’ is no longer in the vocabulary of our youth and so like we know, every seedling has its gestation period before bringing up fruits. “We need to learn patience. Young people: learn patience,”he said.

Finally, he said that they need to believe that their Ministry did not start from where they are today. They had 4 people in those days in Kaduna. Then gradually, grew to 10, then gradually to 30. Then when they reached 90, it was a whole Sunday celebration. Real big-time celebration. Then gradually they reached 500.
