Bishop David Oyedepo Reveals The Consequences Of Not Being A Consistent Tither

Bishop David Oyedepo, the General Overseer of the Living Faith Church Worldwide spoke at the Covenant Hour of Prayer. He spoke about TITHING COMMANDMENT and read from the book of Malachi 3:10-11 which says:

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”

He revealed that Tithing is a commandment that opens the windows of heaven over the lives of believers. It’s a law. In Matthew 23:23, Jesus advised the hypocrites to pay tithes and not to leave the other things he listed there undone. Jesus was validating the place of tithing in the Kingdom. “If you are not a delightsome tither, a consistent tither, you are not a candidate for financial fortune,” he said.

According to him, several ministers who preach grace, don’t preach against tithing, they don’t preach against giving. That is what they preach the most. Some of the hypocrites were tithing, but they were not cheerful, it was a weight on them and also it was not answering, for God only responds to cheerful givers – 2 Corinthians 9:7.

He further explained that It takes joyful engagement with the law of tithing and giving to ever be entitled to returns. Joyfulness and gladness of heart. He said that too many people in this Commission and around the world in many Churches are swimming in the affluence of the blessing of tithing by doing it correctly, doing it scripturally, doing it joyfully, doing it with utmost delight. So join the group, join the army. It is working.

He then revealed that he that is faithful in the least, is also faithful in much. So your faithfulness to tithing must start from where you are. I won’t need to tell you how much my tithes were in those days. Because a tithe is a tenth of my income, what comes my way. And if I am still giving testimony of 1000 (Naira) a week, 1989, please wake up and start from where you are. All this hit and run won’t help you. Hit and stick: He will keep changing your level as you are due.

This is the tithing commandment, that is where it stands. Don’t think it is one Church technique to raise money. You feel your tithe, if you have one, do you think anybody is reading it? According to him, there is no department in their office that checks anybody’s tithes. You may not pay tithes forever, you have a need, we will still rush in and service that need because we are blessed by doing what you won’t do.

In conclusion, he claimed that the Church is growing up and growing forth. They have never felt any economic heat in this Nation. We were under the Structural Adjustment Programme: it didn’t have to adjust us. We are just blessed, just going on. He then prayed that no one here shall be a misfit. Prosperity is our global identity around the world. You can’t be part of this and then remain a pauper. If you will do what He commands us to do; if you will do what your Church is doing.
