Bishop David Oyedepo Reveals Why It Is Important For Believers To Allow God Choose Church For Them -Shares story of a man who left his church and faced troubles

During his sermon at the Covenant Hour of Prayer meeting today, Bishop David Oyedepo revealed that people don’t choose the churches they attend, but God does the choosing for them. He made this revelation as he explained why it was necessary to establish every new convert brought to Christ in a church.

He explained that God has prepared the church as a city of refuge, and he is the one to choose the city of refuge for each person. I believe his basis for this deduction was 2 Samuel 7:10, which says;

“Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,”

He explained that God is the one appointing the place and not the individual. Because of this, a wrong choice can be costly.

He said that God was the one that chose the mountain that Abraham was to sacrifice Isaac on. If Abraham had gone to choose the mountain for himself, he would not have had a lamb as a substitute for Isaac, and he would have killed him for nothing.

“I wasn’t the one that chose Lagos,” the Bishop said. “God did! I did not even like Ota, but if we did not come here, we would not have seen any of the things we are seeing today!”

He narrated the experience of one man who was supposed to be a member of his church, but left for four years. This man ended up not going to any church for the four years until he returned. According to the Bishop, all the nightmares that used to haunt him before he gave his life to Christ returned.

“He started seeing monkeys chase him again. He will wake up with sweat. All the torture and nightmares returned. When he returned to his God-appointed city of refuge, he was safe,” the Bishop said.
