Do you remember the story of Blind Bartimaeus? He was a blind beggar in the Bible, who shouted out for Jesus to have mercy on him, as Jesus passed by. The crowds around him tried to stop him from shouting, but he shouting the more. When Jesus heard him, he called him, and asked him what he should do for him. Blind Bartimaeus said that he wanted to receive his sight, and Jesus healed him of his blindness.
Pastor David Ibiyeomie taught in church yesterday that Blind Bartimaeus should have asked God for prosperity as well as healing. He said it during his message on activating the help of the Holy Spirit.
“God’s wish for you, above all things, is for you to have prosperity and have good health. Blind Bartimaeus only asked for health. He did not ask for money, so God did not give him money. He only had half of what God wanted him to have. It is only what you ask for that God will give you,” he said.
He then demonstrated what he meant by calling a man out. This man had pains in his legs and his hands. He told the man to ask for healing only for the pains in his legs. After the prayers, the man confirmed that the pains in his legs had gone, but the pains in his hands were still there. Then the pastor prayed for his hands too, and the pains disappeared.
“If you ask God for wisdom, he will not give you wisdom and money. It is only what you ask him for that he will give you,” he said.
