Photos and video from the burial ceremony of a legal practitioner, Bolanle Raheem, who was killed by a trigger-happy policeman in Lagos have surfaced on social media as it arrives church for burial.
Recall that, the deceased, who left behind a five-year-old daughter was killed along the Ajah under bridge area of Lagos State on Christmas day after an officer, Drambi Vandi pulled a trigger that hit her in a moving vehicle
Following her murder, the Lagos Command arrested the cop and two others on duty when the incident occurred.
The police then, vowed that Vandi, if found culpable will face the full weight of the law.
However, the other officers were released because they were arrested to give a first-hand account of the incident.
Details of Vandi’s interrogation revealed that he claimed accidental discharge. He is said to be due for promotion by 2023 and retirement in 2024.
Officer Involved In Lagos Lawyer’s Murder Pleads Not Guilty
Meanwhile, suspended Assistant Superintendent of Police, Drambi Vandi pleaded not guilty to the murder of a Lagos-based lawyer, Bolanle Raheem.
The state government preferred a one-count charge of murder contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 against the defendant.
The arraignment, which was scheduled for 9 am, suffered some delay until about 11 am when Vandi’s counsel, Adetokunbo Odutola arrived.
After the charge sheet was read, Vandi pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.
