CAMA: The Church should cooperate with the government; Says Covenant Church Pastor, Poju Oyemade.

Pastor Poju Oyemadu, the Senior Pastor of Convenant Christain Centre (CCC) has implored the body of Christ to cooperate with the federal government on its legalization of the controversial CAMA bill.

CAN, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria(PFN), Bishop Oyedepo and Pastor Adeboye had rejected the assented bill as “ungodly”.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, he revealed his stance that the church derieves his authority from God and the state.

He said, “The State is instituted by God to promote and protect the temporal and common good of society”.

“It does have a right to protect the citizens of a nation from material and bodily harm while it upholds fundamental human rights of the individual to freely worship his/her creator.”

“For example if a religious organization says its “revelation” from God compels it to offer human sacrifices once a week, the State has a right to protect its citizens from such practices.”

Oyemade opines that conflicts with the state should be resolved amicably through engagements on issues percieved to be anti-christain.

This will prevent the church to lose credibility in the minds of the public. They might think opposition to the bill is to hide misappropriation of church funds.

The cleric supported his views from the scriptures.
