A stroke has, however, been known to occur during or right after sexual activity in some cases. Intimate relationships outside of marriage have been found to increase the risk of dying from a stroke. It is unclear whether this is attributable to a decreased willingness to seek emergency medical assistance or to an elevated stroke rate associated with emotional or psychological issues related to adulterous sexual involvement.
