This is the REAL Gospel! Those words were written by Gokey.

More than a million people have seen the film, which features a little girl identified as Cherry Paul Ede of the Coric Children’s church. The young lady was paraphrasing a piece by the spoken-word poet Fragile Dogubo.

The girl got a round of applause when she stated, “I don’t know who needs to hear this, but Jesus was not crucified on a Gucci cross.” No Versace thorns adorned his head, and no Nikes protected his feet from the hammer blows. Calvary was not a snooty place. Our God hung on a cross that wasn’t even appropriate for the carpenter’s son, yet His love for us, for all of us, kept Him there.

“It wasn’t the red carpet extravaganza for your favorite stars,” the girl went on. “In reality, the only paparazzi present was an irate mob acting as eyewitnesses. When I was younger, I equated the crucifixion with the Grammys, thinking it was a celebration of moral superiority. However, the Bible never mentioned a standing ovation; only false accusations, bigoted remarks, and the jeers of idiots were included. It was the King of Glory who delivered.

Jesus “felt every nail, felt every whiplash, every rib fracture,” the girl said.

The suffering that He endured was for the sake of her, she said.

Jesus was laid to rest, but on the third day “He came up like, ‘I’m okay, and you are, too.’ – one with the Father, my blood makes you brand new. What more evidence do you need that God cares about you?

The child ended her speech by encouraging the audience to put their faith into action.

“So when the snake enters to the ring — hissing, uttering deceptive charges speaking in passive languages,” she remarked amid cheers. The clapback season has officially begun, and I am completely absolved of my misdeeds. I don’t know whether anybody cares or not, but Jesus was not crucified on a Gucci cross. Only the fact that you have been created holy matters, not your age, gender, color, or financial status.
