Catholic Priest pays WAEC, NECO fees for 12 Indigent students in Anambra

It was jubilation galore at the premises of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Umudike Ukpor in Nnewi South Local Goverment Area of Anambra State when the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Humphrey “Gbarie” Nwojoko handed out money for the payment of WAEC and NECO Examinations fees to twelve (12) students who are billed to sit for the examinations later this year.

It was actually a big relief for the students and their parents who were pleasantly surprised with the priest’s charity.

Rev. Fr. Nwojoko, who is the Spiritual Director, ‘Everyday with Jesus and Mary Adoration Ministry’, Holy Trinity Parish Umudike Ukpor while handing over the envelopes to the lucky students said that he was moved after a 42-Days special prayers that was concluded recently in the parish.

He said that he had earlier announced during the Third Sunday ministration held in the parish that his parishioners who are going to take this year’s WAEC and NECO should come as there would be special prayers for them.

The priest , popularly called “Fr. Gbarie” however noted that many final year students did not show up. Then the twelve who came for the prayers got their examination fees paid.

He charged the beneficiaries to face their studies squarely so as to come out in flying colors, to enable them contribute their quota toward making the world a better place. He decried a situation where many youths these days prefer masquerading and other fetish activities rather than going to church.

Some of the students were moved to tears while receiving the money . They expressed immense gratitude to Fr Nwojoko for his selfless gesture.

Miss Chinecherem Ikwueme, a beneficiary who said she has the ambition of studying Law in the University noted that her parents do not have the resources to train her but that Fr Nwojoko has now intervened.

“I thank Fr Nwojoko for his show of love, at least, I am sure of writing my WAEC now, after which I will look unto God for more help about the intended course I desire to pursue in the university.” Miss Ikwueme said.
