Covenant University Spends N1 Billion Naira ($2.7 million) Renovating Her Old Hostels.
The Covenant University has embarked on major renovations ahead of her 17th founder’s day. The University which was recently rated tops in Nigeria as well as top 5 in Africa by the Times Higher Education ranking by procedure does only minor renovations annually.
Recently however, University authorities decided to change the face of the hostels by doing a comprehensive renovation on all the hostels. This capital intensive project saw the university spend about 1 billion naira ($2.77 million) renovating the 10 halls within a space of four months.
The University provides full residential facilities for all students to ensure that they live a life of dignity. The 10 Residential Halls in the University comprise 5 male and 5 female Halls.
The male halls are Paul, Daniel, John, Joseph and Peter halls while the female halls are Dorcas, Esther, Deborah, Lydia and Mary halls respectively. The students’ hostel facility can effectively accommodate 9,150 students. In each of the 10 Halls are ancillary spaces such as Common Rooms, Butteries, Tuck Shops, Telephone Rooms, Beauty Salons, Hall Offices and Administrative Offices.
In the past several false allegations have risen claiming the University architecture was designed after the occultic by those who found it difficult to comprehend the success the University has experienced since inception. Meanwhile, Dr David Oyedepo, Chancellor of the University has announced that the University would be among the top 10 Universities globally in about 2 years from now.
