Covid-19: Bro Gbile Akanni sends message for practical action on coronavirus to His field leaders

Peace House, Gboko

Memo from the Office of the Coordinator to all National, Regional, Zonal and Field Leaders and Staff

Our response to the coronavirus (Covid 19).

May the Lord make His face to shine upon each one of you and keep you in peace even in this perilous times in Jesus Name.

As we watch the development of things from nation to nation all over the world and particularly in the nations where we have our staff team labouring for revival and discipleship, it has become necessary to send a word to each one both locally and abroad on our response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

There is no doubt that this is a global attack and it is rightly call a pandemic. It is also a sign of the end time that is coming upon this generation. God seems to be shaking the nations of the earth and there may be some other things coming along which only the grace of God will prevent or hold back so we can push for the preparation of the Bride for the coming King. This has confirmed for me much more the fact that God is asking us to review our means and methods of pushing the message of the cross into the entire globe. It is clear to me that what God is asking us to embark upon with MILERT and our other Conferences is the way forward.

This pandemic only serves as a further wake-up call. The implication is enormous though we cannot discuss that in this short note I need to send out to guide your immediate action as regards our programs and operations. But surely this is only leading us to a global expansion and explosion of the purpose of God on our hands.

Two scriptures have been a very strong guide for us even as we prayed over what we must do…

“Come, my people, enter your chambers, And shut your doors behind you; Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, Until the indignation is past. For behold, the LORD comes out of His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; The earth will also disclose her blood, And will no more cover her slain.” Isaiah 26:20-21 NKJV

This is the first instruction that has come to us few years ago. At the outbreak of Ebola virus as we had to cancel the CLR 2014 and the Students Congress, we understood then that God is calling us to enter into our chambers first spiritually to labour in prayers and travail for the birth of a global revival that will harvest much souls before the impending judgment that will come on the entire globe. Even now, it is still the word we have to obey both spiritually and physically. While the physical self-confinement is necessary and useful to curb the spread of the virus, we sense it is the will of God for us to shut in and pray concertedly. While it will seem it is the virus that we are praying about, it is much more for God to bring us to the place of travail for the birth of the ‘earth’ in the light of Isaiah 66: 7-9 in a move of God that will call the attention of the whole globe to the fear of God

“Before she was in labor, she gave birth; Before her pain came, She delivered a male child. Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion was in labor, She gave birth to her children. Shall I bring to the time of birth, and not cause delivery?” says the LORD. “Shall I who cause delivery shut up the womb? ” says your God.” Isaiah 66:7-9 NKJV

Practical Action

In the face of the coronavirus pandemic, many of us are asking questions on how to practically response to the plague that has now become a common cause of anxiety among the peoples of the land. In our meeting with the Staff and Women Outreach Department, the Lord guided us and instructed us on the appropriate responses as follows:

We must respond in faith, by the word of God. The promises of God found in the whole of Psalm 91 is our anchor. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will abide under the shadow of the Almighty. He is our refuge and fortress and in Him we trust. “Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; Psalms 91:3-10 NKJV. We are all under the canopy of His love and let us remain under the shadow of the Almighty. It shall be well with each one of us in Jesus name.

Secondly we shall resort to prayer. “He shall call upon Me and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation”; It is time to pray and wait on the Lord for ourselves, our relations and disciples all over the world.

We must avoid the temptation to fall victim to fear and panic as those who have no God. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night and the arrow that flies at noon day; neither this pestilence that walks about and around us. It will not waste nor destroy us;

Fourthly, let us seek scientific explanation of what the disease is all about, so as to be enlightened and aware of the common sources of its infection so as to take preventive measures. Create the right awareness among the disciples so that each can act intelligently as regards preventing its spread around. We have been informed that rules of hygiene are central to avoiding the pandemic. These rules of hygiene are biblical and the practical steps to quarantine all the suspects or carriers is not contrary to our faith. It is also not carnal. This is biblical. Please read Leviticus 15:1-15, Deut. 23 ;10-14. What the health professionals and the Government are directing the populace to do including total lock-downs is not wrong and must be adhered to properly. You are to station running water at the door of entrance to your houses, for all who visit, to first wash their hands with soap for 20 seconds, before coming in and please maintain the minimum social distance of at least 1 meter between you and the other person.

It is advisable to shut in at this stage since we cannot know who is already infected, who himself does not know his status, and may become an agent of infection. Avoid traveling in crowded commercial vehicles as this will also aid the spread.

Meetings that attract crowds of up to fifty participants must be avoided. This is the policy position of the Government on the issue, we must oblige, wherever such state or local authority comes up with it. In light of this, we consider that a staff who has his private car, could come to the office and do that which must be done under emergency, otherwise staff should shut in until further notice. As we observe further that rules or regulations prevailing in states or some location may differ according to peculiar conditions, but must be strictly observed by us who happen to be found there. Actually, avoid all big meetings and gatherings that bring people together from different locations for this period. Make all meetings very local and mainly in houses where all the health precautions could be observed.

Isaiah 26:20 “Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourself as it were, for a little moment, until the indignation be past.” In line with the foregoing, all our programs such as LEDEYO, CLR and Students Congress scheduled for April have been put on hold till further notice. Mission outreaches that involve traveling across boarders and villages should be put on hold for now. Prayer is our immediate labour now. Where possible, brethren could be ministered to through the online ministry of the word on the various platforms available in your locality. Abuja office has set up an internet Radio station. I have included the link here below for you to check on it. http://mixlr.com/peace-house-abuja

Brethren let us continue to pray and watch out because what we are doing is scriptural. It is well with us. We shall keep you posted as things unfold. Do let us know how you are coping and what the Lord is showing you as you shut in with Him in concerted prayers. God bless and keep you in the hollow of His hands.

Greetings from us all. Greetings to all who love our Lord and are preparing for His appearing.

Your brother,

Gbile Akanni.
