Lifting ban on Friday Prayers and Sunday services in Nigeria now, is a wrong step not worth taken or emulation in the face of the growing rate of the spread of this deadly virus.

At a time when our leaders are supposed to think deep on what they can do to curtail the spread of the virus further to avoid its outbreak, some of them are politically endangering the lives of the citizens and economy of the nation that is already bleeding from the effect of the virus on the globe.

It seems to me that, our leaders don’t think or they just want to please some set of people at all cost. So far, the trend at which this virus is spreading in the country is as a result of the negligence of our leaders who are more concern about their selfish ambition than our general well-being.

Saudi Arabia make Billions of dollar annually from religious activities yet for almost a month now, Mecca Grand Mosque has not been opened for worshippers. Italy is on total lockdown and as a result, Vatican City which is the headquarter of Roman Catholic Church (the largest Christian Church in the world and also the home of the Pope) is affected by the lockdown and yet to be opened. But some selfish and corrupt leaders in Nigeria want to claim to be more religious than Saudi Arabia and Rome.

In lifting this ban, there are few questions I want to ask.

Are the worship centres opened partially or permanently?

Has these states put any measures in place should there be a sign of one of the worshippers showing symptoms of the virus?

Is the religious activities going to be monitored? If Yes, who monitors it?

Are the states providing any preventive/safety kits to these religious centres?

Do you support the lifting of the ban or worship centres should remain closed until we are done with this virus?
