THE FIRE ARRIVED TO BRING JEHOVAH, EL-SHADDAI, TO CAUSE HIM TO ARRIVE, TO CAUSE US TO EXPERIENCE HIS CHARACTER, EXPERIENCE HIS MANIFESTATION, HIS PERSON

Halleluyah!

Acts 2:1-4. The Lord bless His word in Jesus’ name. I am speaking on, “THE FIRE OF REVIVAL.” We looked at the Wind and Fire of Revival, and now we are seeing the fire of revival. Church Gist. THE FIRE OF REVIVAL – THE ASSIGNMENT OF THE FIRE. It is important for us to know what exactly the fire of revival that came at Pentecost came to do; and what that fire is expected to do in our lives.

I’m going to go straight to the point. If you look at Scripture consistently, fire is always manifested every time God was doing something important. Look at the call of Moses in the book of Exodus 3:1-4, God called Moses at the flame of the burning bush. Church Gist. We saw that the call of Moses was by the flame of fire. When you proceed further, the most significant Prophet in the Old Testament outside of Moses would be Elijah. And you see how God at the mountain of transfiguration called up Moses and Elijah. Elijah was basically a prophet of fire. You look at 2 Kings 1:10-12, whenever Elijah had an issue he called down fire. Then you look at 2 Kings 2:10-11, we saw Elijah permanently in the realm of fire. He called down fire at will; he was a prophet with a prophetic mantle of fire, and when it was time to go to Heaven, he went to Heaven with the chariot of fire. Chariot of fire means that the horse was fire, the horse wheels were fire, the horse men were fire, and everything was fire. And it takes fire to sit inside fire right? So Elijah went up by the whirlwind.

The next person that came after Elijah was Elisha and we saw also Elisha permanently surrounded by fire. In 2 Kings 6:16-18, the call/ministry of Elisha was a fire call; a fire ministry. Church Gist. And so we saw Moses moving in fire, we saw Elijah moving in fire, we are seeing Elisha moving in fire. You go all the way and then you go to the New Testament and you are going to look at the Prophet John the Baptist. Church Gist. He was a prophet; the Bible calls him, “the burning and the shining light.” (John 5:35). John the Baptist was essentially the prophet of fire. Now you come to our master, Jesus, and then you see more of that. In Matthew 3:11-12, the meaning of that is, I John, I am standing in this cold water of Jordan and I am dipping you inside the water of Jordan and bringing you out in a baptism but there is someone coming after me, he will not be standing inside water, he will be standing inside fire. He will baptise you with Holy Ghost and Fire means, He will dip you inside the fire and bring you out of the fire and send you to your generation. Is God speaking to someone here?

– I believe there is someone seated here that is about to experience the baptism of fire; Jehovah God is about to put you in the fire and send you to your generation.

And of course we saw the Apostles in Acts 2:1, we saw how the fire came upon them and the fire caused them to turn their world upside down. Church Gist. It means that the fire is very important. Question is, “what is the assignment of the fire?”

1. It is the fire of His person:

the fire of the person of the Almighty. The Bible said in Deuteronomy 4:24, that our God is a consuming fire. The nature of God is fire; His character is fire. Everything about God is fire. Church Gist. So when the fire came it was literally God who came. It is the fire of His tangible presence. It is the fire of His personality, His manifestation, His character. So the fire arrived to bring Jehovah, El-shaddai, to cause Him to arrive, to cause us to experience His character, experience His manifestation, His person. It is the fire of His person.

2. It is the fire of passion:

passion for God; where you are not lukewarm. The fire of spiritual intensity. That was why the Bible said in Romans 12:11, fervency is fire; carry a spirit on fire. It is the fire of spiritual vibrancy, spiritual buoyancy. Church Gist. It is such a fire where you don’t struggle to pray; you pray like you drink water. You don’t struggle to fast; you fast like you eat food. You don’t struggle to worship, evangelize, or to be on assignment for God. you know, Moses was meant to be on assignment for God and Moses came to the point in his life where he abandoned that assignment and left and went into the wilderness for 40 years. God had to rekindle the passion of Moses by kindling a fire. Church Gist. There are people here this morning and people watching from all over the world, you were passionate for God at a point in your life. You used to have a lot of passion, a lot of fire, a lot of force. May be your university days, your campus days. May be earlier on in ministry, you had more fire, more passion, more burden, more spiritual intensity, more zeal for God; but all of a sudden, the zeal died, the passion died, the vibrancy died. You don’t fats like you used to do anymore, you don’t pray like you used to do anymore, you don’t do those things any more. You are not interested in the Bible anymore. Church Gist. That is the assignment of the fire: to rekindle the passion, your burden, your zeal for God and I believe that shall happen for someone here this morning.

3. The fire of the calling:

God called Moses by the flames of fire. The fire of the call. There are many of us that God will call and it will take a fire encounter; a literal encounter with Him is the fire of the calling. Church Gist. And when God calls you with His fire, then the devil is in trouble. Moses’ calling happened by fire.
