When God gives us a promise, we are not expected to fold our hands because there is still a lot to do. However, Church Gist posted a sermon of Pastor David Ibiyeomie where he talked about the challenges they face in Porthacourt despite the fact that God said that they will subdue the city. According to him, God’s promises are yours but you must contend to possess because that God has said something does not mean it’s automatic.
He revealed that God asked him to go to Port Harcourt and subdue the city, but it took warfare before they subdued the city. “Don’t think that we took over the place by fun, when I came there was so many challenges, challenges of all kind but I didn’t give up,” he said. You war, you don’t faint in the days of battle, if you faint your strength is small. He said that it is not in the face of a battle that one starts crying. Speaking further, he said that everything big attracts the enemy. If this year you’re seeing something, just know that God has already planned big things for you. He said that you have to contend with opposition in battle as you take delivery and as we stir God through praise for him to manifest. He said that seeing prophecy fulfilled is warfare. You need God to fulfil what He has spoken and if God says anything you need him to fulfil it. Because anything God says to you will be bigger than you.
He further explained that there is nothing God will tell you that the enemy will not contend with. “God said go and build the cathedral, the moment he said go, Satan came,” he said. That you see people challenging you, it’s the devil passing through them. God told them to start the foundation, and as they were about to start, some authorities told them not to build. He said that opposition from politicians, from authorities in power was so thick. Satan passed through them to say no but God said they will build. “That God has said this year you will be a multi-billionaire does not mean that you will just fold your hand,” he advised.

Finally, he said that whatever God has said to you will be fulfilled today. Every plan of God for you will only take him to fulfil it by. You can’t fulfil that big plan of God with your little strength. For by strength shall no man prevail.
