Do Not Build A Relationship On Physical Attraction – Pastor Faith Oyedepo

There is nothing wrong in being attracted to a beautiful girl or a good looking man. There’s no doubt that God wired us to like beautiful things. However, that should not be the basis of our choice of who to spend the rest our lives with.

Faith Oyedepo has warned youths to understand what it takes to build lasting relationships beyond physical attraction. She said that at the end of the day, the physical attraction will wear off.

Considering her words, I can understand where she’s coming from. Nobody will remain young and handsome or beautiful forever. As a man gets older, the muscled pecs and six packs will disappear. For the women, the breasts will fall. It is inevitable, and if you try to prevent it with surgery and other procedures, it will get to a point where it just wouldn’t work anymore. When that happens, what’s next in the relationship?

Or what if the person you claim to love is involved in a terrible accident, and is deformed because of it; perhaps is crippled? Or what if she gets breast cancer, and her breasts have to be cut off to save her life? Would you still be attracted to him or her?

Rather than base your choice on physical attraction, base your choice on character and internal beauty. The outward beauty will fade, but the inner beauty that comes from a wonderful character will last as long as the person lives.

Do you remember the story of David and how he became king of Israel? However, God told Samuel that he makes his choice by looking at the heart, and not from judging the physical appearance. God chose David, who did not even look like a king, because David had shaped his character while he was tending his father’s sheep.
