Do not misquote what Pastor Adeboye said Concerning 2023 Presidential Election

The General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor E.A. Adeboye on Sunday, during a sermon service at the church’s National Headquarters in Lagos spoke about the conversation he had with an undisclosed person when he was asked about who would succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

According to the soft-spoken man of God, “they don’t even know whether there will be 2023. If there is 2023, whether they will still be around. There is nobody who can say for sure that they will still be around tomorrow. It is God who decides who will be around in 2023”. ” He further stressed that some desperate Nigerians are already killing themselves to win political elections in 2023.

Contrary to what he said, some media houses and many individuals on social media have taken his words to mean that there will be no more Nigeria in 2023. What the clergyman tried to say was that people should not be too ambitious about tomorrow when they can not even guarantee whether they will be around by that time. In his words, only God can tell who will be around in 2023.

Further from that, the two categories of those who have twisted his sermon to suit their narratives are those who are agitating for the disintegration of the country and the religious overzealous. They misquote the man of God and monumentalize it as a sign that Nigeria will divide into many other Nations before the next general elections. They are looking for some validation from the most respected man of God.

Away from that, Pastor Adeboye is not in the category of those pastors who give political predictions, he is too refined for such shenanigans. He will never use his pulpit to do that, when he speaks his words are authority and direct from the throne. Even if God has instructed him to speak, he would rather use metaphors and parables to reveal his message than come out to say there will be no Nigeria in 2023.
