The issue of Drinking alcohol and many other controversial issues has confused many Christians, as many people do not know where they stand and which doctrine to follow to remain on the right path to Heaven. Many Preachers teach different doctrines to their members, giving room for confusion and argument among Christians from different Churches.

Reno Omokiri is a televangelist and Pastor, he is also a popularly known human rights activist who stands firm and speaks against the evil of the society without fear or Favour. Reno has taken the time to address some of the issues of Christians via his Facebook page.

The human rights activist and pastor made it known through his social media handle that drinking alcohol should not be called a sin but being drunk is indeed a sin, he backed up his claim with scriptural references (Deuteronomy 14:26, I Timothy 5:23). He Further noted that eating is not a sin in itself but overeating is a sin, as can be seen in Ezekiel chapter 16 verses 49. Anger is not a sin but hatred arising from anger is a sin (I John 3:15).

Other issues that Reno omokiri called sin are oversleeping which results in laziness, and any kind of action or virtue that is taken to the extreme. He revealed that Christ himself drank an also alcoholic wine as seen from Luke chapter 7 verses 34. The miracle that Christ performed by turning water into the wine, and through the testimony of the Chairman of the occasion is evident that indeed the wine was alcoholic. Reno omikiri said that during the days of Jesus there were no chemically known techniques for removing alcoholic content from wine.

In his words, here is what Reno omikiri said;

“Deuteronomy 14:26 encourages you to use your tithes to buy “wine, or strong drink”. You guys are putting a burden on yourselves that Scripture did not put. Psalm 104:15 says God created wine to gladden the heart of man. Christ drank wine and taught us that wine would be drunk in God’s Kingdom-Matthew 26:29. These words of Christ are corroborated (not that we should ever need to corroborate Christ’s Words) by Judges 9:13. There is a very big difference between religion and faithfulness. The teaching that alcohol is sinful is religious teaching. It is not faithful teaching. God has not called us to be religious. He has called us to be faithful, even if faithfulness means being controversial”.
