Easiest Ways To Overcome Hunger While Fasting

A lot of people go hungry when they fast, some folks can’t even manage to break by Noon 12pm before their tummy will start reacting as if the lungs is about to break lose. Lol.. well i understand, you’re not alone, it happens to a lot of people as well. so this article is just a summary on how we can overcome hunger in our own little way while fasting.

Drink plenty of water before 12am

The simplest, easiest, and healthiest method to stave off hunger while fasting is to consume adequate amounts of fluid, especially water. Much of the time, hunger is actually thirst — so you should reach for some water. In fact, filling up on good, clean water will be your number one weapon to combat hunger before starting the fast.

Although the recommended amount of water is eight glasses (or 64 ounces) per day, Americans fall far short of this amount, drinking only two-and-a-half glasses (or 20 ounces) per day, which is 58 gallons of water, on average, a year.

Go for Walks or Meditate

Avoiding eating on fast days can be difficult, especially if you are feeling bored and hungry.

One way to avoid unintentionally breaking your fast is to keep busy.

Activities that may distract you from hunger — but don’t use up too much energy — include walking and meditating.

However, any activity that’s calming and not too strenuous would keep your mind engaged. You could take a bath, read a book or listen to a podcast.

Don’t Fasting If You Feel Unwell

During a fast, you may feel a little tired, hungry and irritable — but you should never feel unwell.

To keep yourself safe, especially if you are new to fasting, consider limiting your fast periods to 24 hours or fewer and keeping a snack on hand in case you start to feel faint or ill.

If you do become ill or are concerned about your health, make sure you stop fasting straight away.

Some signs that you should stop your fast and seek medical help include tiredness or weakness that prevents you from carrying out daily tasks, as well as unexpected feelings of sickness and discomfort.

Fasting is powerful
Fasting has powerful effects on your brain, your mood and your attitude to food. The kind of control you need, to battle hunger pangs makes you stronger and you can ‘pat your own back’ and feel proud of yourself — which in itself is a very positive feeling.

Fasting will heal and cleanse
Remember that your body is using this ‘fast’ time to heal and cleanse. With time, it should get easier to go on a fast.

Important: Never fast to lose weight
Fasting to lose weight is extremely harmful for your body and does not really work, because one ends up putting on that much, and more weight, as soon as you are off the fast. If you want to lose weight, you need to eat small healthy meals throughout the day and exercise. No shortcuts here.

Meditate on the Word Of God

while you are fasting, let your bible be beside you, the purpose of fasting is to seek God’s face so you wont be distracted with other things around you and it’s also advisable to be in a quiet place where people wonr disturb or distract your attention. Your focus should be only for God.
