Nigerian gospel singer, Nathaniel Bassey, who is a huge fan of Lionel Messi took to his social media to pray that Argentina wins the 2022 FIFA World Cup title in Qatar.
Taking to his Twitter handle shortly after Argentina defeated Croatia, he wrote,
“Father, Please give Him the World Cup and silence His mockers”.
His post has been followed with criticisms as he was called out for watching football and also not praying for Nigeria.
In a response to that he said,
“So because I want my favourite player to win the World Cup, I don’t pray for Nigeria Abi? Schm. Is it today you found out I’m a huge Messi fan. So being a man of God means I can’t watch football as one of my hobbies.”
