Flashback: The Bible Passage Bob Marley believed That Made Him To Refuse Treatment Of His Cancer Illness
Marley was a Rastafarian and was diagnosed with a melanoma in his toe in 1977 after getting injured on the soccer field. He was then advised to amputate the toe. He refused for religious reasons. This then led to tumor spread all over his body. Doctors advised Bob, who was a devout Rastafarian, to have the toe amputated. He refused, on grounds that it would possibly interfere with his performing and it was against his Rastafarian beliefs. A few years later, it had spread to his brain. He passed in 1981.
Reports has it that, Doctors could have helped him to stop the spread of this cancer on his body. But his refusal and option to for a less invasive solution made him prone to the deadly side of the disease. It is known that the Rastafarian belief is based on The Book of Leviticus 21:5 in the Old Testament and The Torah. Which says “They shall not make baldness upon their heads, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.”
Final line is that, even though his death could have been prevented, Bob went to his grave without compromising his spiritual beliefs.
When he died, a guitar, a soccer ball and a marijuana plant were placed in his grave.
