Four (4) Very Important Weight Gaining Tips

You are judged to be underweight if your body mass index (BMI) is under 18.5. While obesity is always in the news as a major health problem, being underweight can equally result in health problems, such as infertility, osteoporosis, anemia, hair loss, teeth and gum problems, dry skin, and poor sleep, among others.

According to Cleveland Clinic, some of the helpful tips for gaining weight include;

1. Eat small meals every 3 to 5 hours and snacks all through the day to assist you to consume more without feeling overly full.

2. Prevent drinking water or other fluids thirty minutes before meals to prevent you from feeling full. Also, drink a lower amount of liquids with your meals.

3. Drink beverages that add calories, like whole milk or cream, juice, shakes, and smoothies, instead of water, tea, black coffee, and diet beverages that have no calories.

4. Add condiments or ‘extras’ whenever you can. Include in your food some dried fruit, chopped nuts or seeds, honey, bacon bits, cheeses, mayonnaise, and salad dressings. Cook your food with extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil or butter to incorporate calories. Endeavor to add hummus or avocado to sandwiches or crackers.
