Fr. Oluoma Gives Reason Why Believers Should Stop Giving God Names Like Miracle Worker Or God That Answers By Fire

While preaching to his members about the name and nature of God, the Priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, Reverend Father Oluoma Chinenye John, popularly known as Father Oluoma, said people should stop giving God names like Miracle Worker or God Who Answers By Fire. He said he understands that God does those things, but it is not necessary to add them to His name.

The reason, according to him, is that God has just one name, and He revealed it to Moses when He appeared to him in the form of a burning bush. “When Moses asked God what he would say if the Israelites asks who sent him to them, He said Moses should tell them that ‘I Am Who I Am sent him, not a miracle worker or the God who answers by fire”, he said.

Buttressing further, Father Oluoma said God’s name is not “predicated” on anything, and the names people call Him are just things He does for them. “God is who He is, with or without those names you give Him. His identity cannot be determined by anything external. So, stop giving Him names”, he concluded.
