EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
Godman Akinlabi, who was born on December 28, 1974, is from Igbo-Ora, Oyo State, which is in the south-western region of Nigeria. He was raised in Ibadan and studied there from 1985 to 1990 at the Government College, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
He was accepted in 1992 to study mining and mineral engineering at the Federal University of Technology in Akure, Ondo State, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in 1997. At the University of Lagos, he earned a master’s degree in international relations. He graduated with his MBA from Manchester Business School in England.
Pastoral Ministry
At Daystar Christian Centre, where he began his pastoral ministry, he had a variety of positions, including ushering pastor, teacher, speaker, and director of pastoral care. He has twelve years of experience teaching leadership development courses as a member of the faculty at Daystar Leadership Academy. Sam Adeyemi, senior pastor of Daystar Christian Church, founded The Elevation Church on October 10, 2010, and Godman has served as its lead pastor ever since.
He moderated and launched “BelieversConnect” in July 2016 with the goal of bringing together Christians who are single and “have similar objectives for a healthy marriage.”
He was listed as one of the five most influential pastors in Nigeria based on the popularity of his sermons among a demographic group that was predominately made up of young people.
