Bishop David Oyedepo has revealed that he had 25 encounters with death before he turned 50. He made this statement during his sermon at the Covenant Hour Of Prayer meeting today, as he preached a message he titled: Serving God Is Essentially For Your Benefit.
He declared that he stopped counting the encounters he had with death when he turned 50 years.
“Once I was going on 140km per hour, and the front tire just pulled out. How can you explain that? I’ve had 25 encounters with death. Not dreams or anything like that, but Death coming to me live to say ‘I want to take you.’ If you ask me if I survived, I’m standing here today,” he said.
He explained that serving God will put you above the oppressions of Satan because Jesus gave his disciples authority over all the powers of the devil, as they went about doing his business.
“If there is anybody that Satan should attack, it should be me. He will attack me first before he comes for you because I am one of the people that has caused him so much problems in this world,” he said.
God has truly been keeping his servant from the arrows that fly by day, and the pestilence that arises at night. There have been close calls with airplane crashes and motor accidents, but he overcame them all. I can see that working hard to save souls puts you at the top of Satan’s hit list, but God will come to protect his servants.
