What Is The Difference Between Sperm and Semen?

According to the information contained on Healthline, there is a difference between these two words and here is the full breakdown of what they entail;

Sperm refers to the microscopic cell that is produced by the testicles and they are referred to as the swimmers, the main invisible cells that fertilize an egg in the body of a woman to give rise to a baby. But the semen on the other hand is the totality of fluids that carry these sperm cells. Semen is formed by some organs in the male reproductive system such as the prostate gland, the seminal vesicles and these organs produce the fluid that now carries the sperm cells alongside.

This is because the sperm cells alone will just be swimming in circles and won’t be able to perform the duty they are supposed to perform and the fact that the female system is acidic, most of the cells won’t survive and get to the main point but with the assistance of the seminal fluid, the cells will be able to fertilize the egg.

In summary, sperm cells are not visible to the naked eyes ,they are a part of the semen while the semen is not a part of the sperm. It is the fluid that carries the sperm cells into the female system to make reproduction possible.
