During the Covenant Hour of Prayer meeting today, Bishop David Oyedepo warned his members to take their spiritual lives seriously. He encouraged them to continue to pray kingdom advancement prayers, and offer spiritual stewardship, because these things are the highest form of service you can offer to God, and they will keep you in the faith.
He explained that you can be an active usher, or an active member of any service group, and still end up leaving the faith, if you are not also offering spiritual service to God by praying and winning souls for Christ, and that was why spiritual service is the highest form of service anyone can offer to God. He continued by narrating a story of one of the members of the church in Kaduna, who joined an armed robbery gang.
He said that some members of his evangelism team went on an outreach, and found a man, who used to be an active member, but was now in an armed robbery gang. The man begged them not to report him to Bishop Oyedepo because he was ashamed.
“There are people who were once active members of churches, but are now in cults. Spiritual stewardship is for your preservation because in the last days, many people will fall away from the faith,” he said.
He explained that the goal of every Christian is to make it to heaven when their time comes, and offering spiritual service to God will make you sure of where you will spend eternity.
“By God’s grace, I know I will go to heaven when my time comes if Jesus tarries,” he said. “Paul was very sure of where he would go. He could see the crown already. My prayer is that nobody will be denied entrance to heaven on that day.”
