How Oyedepo And Oyakhilome Have Shown Their Loyalty To Idahosa Even In His Death

Benson Idahosa, the founder and General Overseer of the Church of God Missions International (CGMI), is arguably one of Africa’s greatest ministers of God, whose ministry was well received in many countries in the world.

Idahosa’s impact in ministry was more pronounced in the ’80s and ’90s before he went to be with the Lord in 1998.

During this period Idahosa’s influence in the body of Christ made him a father to many ministers, both in Nigeria and beyond.

Among many of the ministers of God whom Idahosa fathered, two, in particular, have proven to be true sons of the latter, by displaying acts of loyalty, even though he is long gone.

These two ministers are: David Oyedepo, the founder and Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church (LFC) and Chris Oyakhilome, the founder and Senior Pastor of Believers’ Love World, also known as Christ Embassy

How have Oyedepo and Oyakhilome proven to be loyal to Idahosa?

Let’s begin with Oyakhilome…

Oyakhilome was a young man, who was finding his bearing in life and ministry when he met Idahosa.

According to the cleric, he was a member of CGMI at some point and served there, even though he wasn’t close to the Idahosa.

However, when he became a young minister, whose ministry had begun to rise gradually, he sought mentorship and God led him to Idahosa, that was how the relationship between both ministers began.

It’s been more than 20 years since Idahosa died, and Oyakhilome still does honor the ministry of the former and his wife, Margaret Idahosa, whom he calls ‘Mama’.

This was proven in 2015 when Oyakhilome donated a whooping sum of one billion naira towards the building project of the Engineering Faculty at the Benson Idahosa University (BIU).

When given a chance to address the students, and all those who were present at the grand opening of the building, Oyakhilome pointed out that Idahosa’s impact on his life was unquantifiable.

Now for Oyedepo…

According to Ivory, Oyedepo met with Idahosa in 1986, when he was only 32 years old and was ordained a bishop by the latter. Since then, Oyedepo took Idahosa as his father and mentor.

According to this video, Duncan Williams, a popular Ghanian minister, who happens to be another spiritual son of Idahosa, stated that during CGMI camp meetings, Oyedepo often brought large sums of money to cater to BIU’s staff for a whole year and other major needs of the ministry.

Even though Idahosa is no more, Oyedepo hasn’t stopped showing his support for CGMI and avails himself whenever he is invited.

Recall that Oyedepo was present during the 40th anniversary of CGMI in 2015, he even stopped by at the BIU chapel and gave a charge to the students and staff.

More recently in 2021, Oyedepo honored the invitation of CGMI to minister at the Megacon 2021, an annual conference held by the ministry.

Margaret Idahosa took to her Instagram page to shower praises on Oyedepo for proving his love and loyalty towards the ministry of his spiritual father.
