How Wrestling Legend “The Undertaker” Became A Christian

Do you remember the terrifying actor and wrestler Undertaker. If you are a fan of wrestling you must know Undertaker. Undertaker is known for feeding the sight of his audience with dangerous and scary work of art, like sleeping in a coffin or appearing like a ghost man.

If you don’t know that he was acting all this things to make his personality more terrifying as part of strategy to sell himself to people, you will think he his truly a ghost from the underworld.

His real name is Mark William Calaway (born March 24, 1965. He his an American professional but retired (June 21, 2020) wrestler. He was nicknamed the Undertaker when he began to gimmick like a ghost storming the stage with a coffin. Gimmick in professional wrestling term which refers to a wrestler’s inside the ring personality which is artificially created to draw fans interest on them. There are two types of gimmicks the good and the bad guys.

In a bid to draw more attention to himself, Undertaker chose the bad gimmicks which made the world see him as a Dead man. But now, undertaker has changed the way people see him.

How he became a Christian

He was known as a Dead Man for 30 years, but now, Undertaker is alive. And he his alive in Christ. He explained how his wife led him to church.

In an interview

The wrestling legend in an interview narrated how his current wife of 10 years, Michelle McCool who is also a former wrestler led him to found God. He said he believed in God, but due to the kind of thing he does, the excessive lifestyle and everything he didn’t live his life for God.

“I believed in God but I wasn’t living my life for God,”

He said his wife didn’t want anything to do with him (Undertaker) when she first arrived at WWE. Meanwhile he was admiring her work ethic from after.

According to him, he worked up the courage to begin a relationship with her. But she requested if he would come to church with her.

“Would you please just come to church with me,” she asked, to which he responded, “I’m going to walk in there and the rafters are gonna start shaking…I believe in God, I’m good.”

He said his wife knew the man he was supposed to be had nothing to do with the personality ‘The Undertaker’. Then he described how he eventually grew to know the Lord through this church experience and he now finds Bible reading interesting.

“There was a whole other part of life that I was missing out on,” he said. “I’m not perfect, I’m still in my process, I’m getting there. I spend a lot more time these days reading my Bible.”

The Undertaker’s path to Christ is obviously eternal. He was formerly a ‘Dead Man’ but he his now alive in Christ.
