“I Am Beginning To Lose Patience With Pastors Who Are Calling For More Prayers For Nigeria” – Reno Omokri Reveals Why

Reactions have continued to trail a post made on a social media platform by Reno Omokri, a presidential aide to former president Goodluck Jonathan. In his post, the aide felt calling for more prayers for Nigeria was irrelevant as the country has not witnessed appreciable development even after series of prayers have been made in past years.

See the post below.

Making reference to an European nation that happens to be the richest country on earth, Reno Omokri hinted that though Nigeria prays more than the country, she is yet to attain enviable heights when compared to this “prayer less” nation. According to him, placing too much emphasis on work should not be replaced by excessive prayers even though it is important to pray.

He went further to decry the endless services held in churches across the country during weekdays and noted that people who are supposed to be at various work places spend more times at religious centres and gatherings. In his opinion, this development can never assist in developing the country and is not supported in the Scriptures. In the holy book, Jesus Christ did not visit the Synagogue daily during His earthly ministry.

He also proved that God, in His infinite wisdom created man to work for 6 days out of the 7 days in a week. As written in Exodus 34:21, God said, “six days you shall work”. As explained by the ex- presidential aide, the Almighty would be breaking His words if He blessed prayers without work. Conclusively, no matter how religious a people can be, they can never achieve meaningful development by praying alone.
