I Have Had Serious Failures Before in Ministry, Says Pastor David Ibiyeomie
Sometimes, when you look at great men in any field of endeavour, you might be tempted to think that these men have not experienced failure. To fail is normal, but to remain a failure is abnormal. Failure is a sign that you are trying out new things.
In one of Pastor David Ibiyeomie’s sermons, he gave a little hint of how he failed few years ago in ministry. Please permit me to do a brief introduction of him. He is a pastor with the largest church in the world with different establishments in Nigeria. This is indeed a typology of a successful man.
Furthermore, the clergy asserted that he has failed seriously before; but he was determined to succeed. He cited an example of the first program that he organized in the church. Out of faith and passion, he printed 200,000 handbills which was distributed to people with no one left with him. But the shocking news was that, persons that came for the program were not up to five.
Furthermore, he cited another example of how he closed church service in less than twenty-five minutes because of discouragement. According to him, the church membership was just two (that is, him and his wife) with some children. Hence, he was discouraged, but he refused to give up.
It is normal to be discouraged but don’t allow the discouragement to render you defeated.
Every success begins with a desire, and this desire is sponsored by the rugged determination to succeed irrespective of oppositions.
Never allow discouragements, failures, defeats or problems to keep you perpetually on the ground. Delete the word “quit” from your dictionary. Keep pushing your way through till you break through the clouds.
Opposition is a proof that you have something great on the inside. Thus, any time you are doing something and there is opposition, it is a proof that God’s hand is involved.
With these and many other words, the clergy challenged the congregation never to give up.
