“I Never liked Prayer” – Lawrence Oyor Shares How He Learnt How to Pray

There will be no revival without prayer. Infact, the impact of revival and the birthing of it comes by prayer.

The bible says the Effectual, Fervent prayer of the righteous makes power available. This means that prayer is highly needed in your Christian walk.

Evangelist Oyor that we all know today did not start out as a man that could pray for hours like he does now. He was used to a prayer setting where you talk more than you pray. So, that was the pattern he knew and grew with. Growing up this way, he thought this was all there is to prayer.

But at a certain time in His life, he realized that he didn’t have a prayer life and he really needed to give himself to prayer so he attended the meeting of a man of God. He attended with his twin brother, Godwill Oyor.

That man already had a fantastic prayer life so he just thought of learning from him.

When the meeting was about to start, an announcement was made that they were going to pray from that time till when the sun comes out hot. That was about 11pm. And if your maths is as good as mine, you would know that that is over twelve hours.

The funny thing was that the prayer was going to be in tongues. Lawrence Oyor narrated how people felt that they and reacted to the prayer. There were many funny reactions and his own reaction was even funnier because at that time, he could only speak one kind of tongue. So, most of the time he spent there was in laughing at the funny reactions that people made.

His twin brother, Godswill could not take it anymore so when it was about 6:30am the following day, he flew through the fence and ran home. His brother Lawrence began to look around for him. It was then he discovered that he had run home for tiredness and frustration from the prayer.

But thank God for times like this. Where people can break loose from themselves and do what they never imagined they could do. This was the turning point in his prayer life.

Today, he is a catalyst of hunger and passion for Jesus. But this could not have happened if he didn’t give himself totally to prayer.
