“I Never Sent My Children To Any School That Was Not A Christian School” -Bishop David Oyedepo Reveals

The Bible commands us to train our children in the way they should go, because they will not depart from the way we’ve trained them when they get old. I like to see godliness as obeying every single word of the scriptures to the latter, and God’s servant, Bishop David Oyedepo, is following this path.

In his message in today’s service titled Understand The Pathway Of Godliness, he revealed that he and his wife made a decision never to send their children to any school that was not a Christian school.

“We didn’t have a university then, but I determined never to send my children to any school that was not a christian school. Look at them now, my wife and I are enjoying peace from all our children.”

“How will you send a child, who is not of age to make decisions that are relevant to his life, to a place where you will not see him, with no proper spiritual guardian to watch over his life? And then when he comes back, you start running around for prayers? Don’t sell off your children. There are quite a number of christian schools and universities here in Nigeria, and around the world,” he said.

He then used the opportunity to give glory to God for the recent Times Higher Education Rankings, which placed Covenant and Landmark Universities, both owned by the commission, as the best and second best private universities in Nigeria. Overall, Covenant University was ranked as the second best university in Nigeria.

“Covenant has never paid any bribe to anybody to gain favours. Our favour comes from God,” he said during the message.

“One benefit of godliness is in Psalm 5:12. For thou O LORD will bless the righteous, you will cover him with favour like a shield. There are about 26,000 universities in the world as of the last time I checked, and there are only about 2000 universities in the elite category. To the glory of God, Covenant University is part of the elite.”

He concluded by saying to his congregation that whatever is done in a godly manner will work because God will support it. He used Covenant University as the example to illustrate this point.

In my opinion, Covenant University is a brilliant example of the difference between a system run by the principles of God, and other systems run by men. This is a university that started in 2002, yet it has become better than many higher institutions that have been around since the 1960s. Truly, whatever God is involved in will work.
