Narrating her ordeal during an interview, the Reverend sister said, “I boarded a commercial bus in Lagos State on Friday evening. When we got to Akara junction, the commercial vehicle developed issues, so we decided to sleep the car. The following morning, we were trying to find another car that could transport us to Imo State when five men emerged from the bush and started shooting. The gunmen robbed us of our belongings before instructing us to march into the bush with them.”

Speaking further about her ordeal, the victim added, “After we got into the bush, they covered our faces and started asking us questions. I told them that I was travelling from Lagos to Imo State, but they asked if I was married. I then told them that I was married with two children. The information I supplied isn’t true because Reverend Sisters do not get married. I did not inform the kidnappers that I came from my Convent in Ghana. On Saturday, my abductors set out to abduct a man and brought him into their camp. They dispossessed their male victim of his properties and their focus was on their loot. I decided to remove the face blind and ran inside the bush. I managed to reach the road and informed a commercial motorcyclist of my ordeal, and he took me to the police station.”
